Expert Physical Therapy for Desk Workers in Astoria, NY
Neck stiffness, low back pain, and tight shoulders don't have to be the price you pay for your job. At The Manual Shop, our Doctors of Physical Therapy identify the root cause of your desk-driven pain and get you back to moving — and living — without limits.

Your Desk Is Doing More Damage Than You Think
Hours of sitting, screens, and stress create a slow build-up of tension, imbalance, and pain — and most quick fixes only mask what's really going on underneath.
The Pain Keeps Coming Back
Your Body Is Compensating
You're Losing Ground at the Gym
You've tried massage, stretching, maybe even generic PT — and you felt better for a week. Then the neck pain or low back tightness crept right back. Without addressing the root cause, nothing sticks.
Desk posture creates muscle imbalances that ripple through your entire body. Shoulder tension leads to headaches. Hip tightness drives knee pain. Everything is connected — and most providers treat only the symptom.
The stiffness and pain that follows you from desk to workout is slowing your progress. If sitting all day is undermining your training, it's not a willpower problem — it's a movement problem that needs real answers.
Astoria's Physical Therapy Clinic Built for You
At The Manual Shop, every session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy — no aides, no double-booking. We pair hands-on manual therapy with progressive strength training to find and fix what's actually driving your pain, so you can sit, move, and perform without holding back.

✓ Root-cause assessment using manual therapy, movement screening, and breathwork to uncover what's really driving your pain
✓ A clear take-home program after every visit so you keep making progress between sessions

Your first session goes deep. We use manual therapy, postural and movement analysis, and breathwork assessment to identify exactly why you're in pain — not just where it hurts. You'll leave with answers and a clear plan.
Every session combines hands-on treatment with progressive strength and movement training. You'll receive a personalized take-home program after each visit so you keep improving between appointments — not just during them.

"First he fixed my knee, by having me work my right abs and breathe. Then he fixed my left shoulder, same right abs paired with basically discovering a muscle knot and activating proper muscles. He is currently fixing my left hip and my right shoulder. I just sat with my arms crossed in an airplane for the first time in years without pain. What Nick prescribes works, if you put in the work on your end. Let them heal you."

"I've been working with Dr. Nick Torres for the last few months on my left shoulder with goals of improving overhead strength & stability in order to send higher/harder grades in rock climbing. I've been able to climb/train pain-free which has resulted in me pushing towards my original goals. His treatment style is incredibly thorough, and he has honed his craft utilizing techniques/assessment from the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) and Institute of Physical Art (IPA) for a whole-body approach."
— Brandon Kovalev
"I came to the Manual Shop and Dr. Antonio Colletti with ailments that were all on my left side—replaced knee, hip bursitis and arthritis, shoulder and back pain. I visited orthopedists who would only consider one issue at a time with little regard to how these problems may be connected. I am grateful for Dr. Antonio, who has helped me tremendously working in a holistic way to treat each ailment individually as well as my body's function as a whole connected unit."

Your Questions, Answered
Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-based, out-of-network provider. Sessions are $100 for 60 minutes. We provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance provider directly. We also offer 7, 12, and 18-session packages to reduce the per-session cost.
How is this different from insurance-based PT?
At most insurance-based clinics, you're seen by an aide for part of the session, double-booked, and given a generic protocol. At The Manual Shop, every minute of every 60-minute session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We identify and treat the root cause — not just the symptom.
What happens during my first visit?
Your first session includes a detailed assessment of your posture, movement patterns, breathing mechanics, and manual therapy findings. You'll leave with a clear picture of what's driving your pain and a customized plan to address it — plus a take-home program to start right away.
How do I get started?
Book a free 30-minute Discovery Call. We'll talk through your history, goals, and what you've already tried — and confirm we're the right fit before you commit to anything.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No referral is required. New York State allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book directly with us.
Can you help with headaches, TMJ pain, or dizziness?
Yes. These are conditions many PT clinics don't treat, but they're areas we specialize in. Dr. Nick Torres has extensive training in treating headaches, migraines, TMJ and orofacial pain, dizziness, and vertigo/BPPV.
